— I know that prison is not how I want to live my life. But I have to deal with it for the time being. No one wants to be in prison, I know I don't. I look at it as a stepping stone in life, just another obstacle to overcome. —

New Prison Promises 500 Jobs
Wpxi.com, July 10, 2008
HIBBS, Pa. -- Fayette County officials say another state prison is being planned in the county. Officials in German Township have met twice this year with the Department of Corrections about a planned 2,000-bed prison that could create 500 jobs.
Fayette County is already home to the State Correctional Institution-Fayette, a maximum-security prison for men. That facility opened in September 2003 in Luzerne Township and employs about 700 people.
State prison officials said a new prison is needed immediately to ease overcrowding. The department expects to run out of space for inmates by 2010. Right now, the state has 28 facilities, including a boot camp, a prison for young offenders and two for women.
The state is also considering sites in Armstrong, Centre, Huntingdon, Philadelphia, Luzerne and Northumberland counties for the new prison.
