Janet Hintermann - Treasurer

Janet is a retired accountant and student of Tse Chen Ling (the San Francisco FPMT center Liberation Prison Project shares a building with). Janet worked as the accountant in San Francisco from 2005 to 2008. She continues to serve as the prison project's Treasurer and on our Board of Directors.

"In 2005 the bookkeeper got a new job that was quite time consuming and couldn't do the books for LPP anymore. She wanted to find a replacement for herself ASAP.

"One day when I was talking with Ven. Robina she asked me if I wanted to do the bookkeeping. I told her that what I really wanted to do was be able to take more Dharma classes, study, do retreats and travel, but at that time I had a senior cat (19 years old) who needed a lot of attention (giving medications, etc.) and an ailing father that kept me from going away for extended periods.

"Since most of my time was spent at Tse Chen Ling, I happily agreed to do the bookkeeping for LPP at least as long as my father and cat were around. My father and cat both died in the first half of 2006, but I'm still here helping.

"The work that everyone does here for the prison project benefits so many inmates, and they are all so dedicated. I really enjoy working here. The best way for me to show gratitude for all I have is to help others.

"As I tell my co-workers from my old job - why work for money when you can work for free."
